Through music and visual story-telling, Annie Moscow highlights the many reasons to live your dreams today.

“Erma Bombeck once said, if she had to do it all over again, she would’ve burned the pink candle shaped like a rose before it melted in storage.”

“Have you heard those radio commercials where there’s a little kid saying all kinds of genius stuff like “the square root of 7 plus 57 equals…..” and then this voice-over comes on and says, “Are you ready for kids who eat healthy?” implying that if your kid eats healthy, they will grow up to be a rocket scientist.

When I was a little kid, we ate a lot of candy.

My best friend told me that when she grew up, she was going to be a tiger. Even when I was 5, I didn’t think you could grow up to become a tiger, but for a few years there after that, I wasn’t so sure.”

“My friend just celebrated a milestone birthday. She just turned 60. Birthdays are a time of renewal, almost like a new year, where you step back, take stock of where you’ve been, where you’re going. At age 60, she’s looking back, a bit sobered by the years, and is making some real decisions about what she’s going to do now.

She’s going to run away with the gypsies. And I’ve decided to join her.”

Songs of Grace, Change and Acceptance, by Annie Moscow

AT THE HERBERGER THEATER:
In June, 2011, Annie Moscow released her latest song cycle: “PHOENIX: Songs of Grace, Change and Acceptance.” To promote the project, Annie and her band embarked on a 12-week tour of the Phoenix Greater Metropolitan area. (Hey! Some of the band had to work during the day and gas is expensive!) Come and enjoy songs and stories from her exotic travels.

“I went to this show as part of a class about the humanities. It was close to work and I thought, “What the heck, it’s better than a lecture on methodological frameworks, right?” Well, this turned out to be a wonderful event….”

‘Peoplesongs’ is a show about inspiration. As a songwriter, you never know where your next inspiration is going to come from,
and some of the best inspiration comes from other people.

In this entertaining and informative 45-minute show, Annie Moscow will share some of the stories she’s uncovered behind some of her favorite songs (and possibly yours!), that have been written about people in the songwriters’ lives. Moscow will also perform a few of her original songs, as she tells stories that offer some intimates glimpses into her own writing process.

“Poet/pianist Annie Moscow’s entertaining one-woman theater revue is fitting for these money-tight times. We live in an era of homes in suburbia lost to foreclosures, imminent job layoffs at all socioeconomic levels and cherished career dreams dashed by harsh economic realities.

For just over an hour the audience at Moscow’s one-act musical interspersed with her poignant philosophical musings were able to forget their own financial problems – or at least laugh at them while listening to this seasoned musician’s songs and bittersweet lessons.

Characters like Drew, the high schoolmate who looked so hot but turned out to be gay. Like her woman friend who calls herself the “Orange Juice Fairy.” Or listen to the whimsical lyrics welcoming you to suburbia, “Where the beds are warm, and the floors are clean and the dogs are fat and the lawns are green.”
