SONGS FROM B-SIDE / 2016

Once upon a time, record labels released prospective hit songs as singles on 45-rpm vinyl. On the A-side was the hit, and the B-side, not a hit – often a throwaway track from the concurrent album. This show is about great songs that were never hits, but maybe should’ve been.

SEA OF CHANGE / JUNE 2014

SOMEDAY / 2013

Someday is a musical tribute to dreams, procrastinations and those of use who indulge.
Through music and visual story-telling, Annie Moscow highlights the many reasons to live your dreams today.

“Erma Bombeck once said, if she had to do it all over again, she would’ve burned the pink candle shaped like a rose before it melted in storage.”

“Have you heard those radio commercials where there’s a little kid saying all kinds of genius stuff like “the square root of 7 plus 57 equals…..” and then this voice-over comes on and says, “Are you ready for kids who eat healthy?” implying that if your kid eats healthy, they will grow up to be a rocket scientist.

When I was a little kid, we ate a lot of candy.

My best friend told me that when she grew up, she was going to be a tiger. Even when I was 5, I didn’t think you could grow up to become a tiger, but for a few years there after that, I wasn’t so sure.”

“My friend just celebrated a milestone birthday. She just turned 60. Birthdays are a time of renewal, almost like a new year, where you step back, take stock of where you’ve been, where you’re going. At age 60, she’s looking back, a bit sobered by the years, and is making some real decisions about what she’s going to do now.

She’s going to run away with the gypsies. And I’ve decided to join her.”

PHOENIX: TALES FROM THE ROAD/2012

Songs of Grace, Change and Acceptance, by Annie Moscow

AT THE HERBERGER THEATER:
In June, 2011, Annie Moscow released her latest song cycle: “PHOENIX: Songs of Grace, Change and Acceptance.” To promote the project, Annie and her band embarked on a 12-week tour of the Phoenix Greater Metropolitan area. (Hey! Some of the band had to work during the day and gas is expensive!) Come and enjoy songs and stories from her exotic travels.

“I went to this show as part of a class about the humanities. It was close to work and I thought, “What the heck, it’s better than a lecture on methodological frameworks, right?” Well, this turned out to be a wonderful event….”

PEOPLESONGS / SUMMER 2011

‘Peoplesongs’ is a show about inspiration. As a songwriter, you never know where your next inspiration is going to come from,
and some of the best inspiration comes from other people.

In this entertaining and informative 45-minute show, Annie Moscow will share some of the stories she’s uncovered behind some of her favorite songs (and possibly yours!), that have been written about people in the songwriters’ lives. Moscow will also perform a few of her original songs, as she tells stories that offer some intimates glimpses into her own writing process.

Inspiring, entertaining and interesting.
and you may even recognize someone you know:)

THE PHILOSOPHICAL MUSINGS..

…of a suburban dwelling free spirit ex-hippie wannabe with longings for connection and security)

A whimsical, warm, one-woman show of songs, stories and poetic musings, inspired by very real life.

“It’s easy to blame others for the road your life has taken. But I’m sure we all know where the blame really lies. My mother.”

“Philosophical Musings is a delightful, thought-provoking mix of storytelling, songs and audience interaction from an ex-hippie.” Ru Hernandez, PHOENIX CULTURAL EXAMINER 9/09

“Poet/pianist Annie Moscow’s entertaining one-woman theater revue is fitting for these money-tight times. We live in an era of homes in suburbia lost to foreclosures, imminent job layoffs at all socioeconomic levels and cherished career dreams dashed by harsh economic realities.

For just over an hour the audience at Moscow’s one-act musical interspersed with her poignant philosophical musings were able to forget their own financial problems – or at least laugh at them while listening to this seasoned musician’s songs and bittersweet lessons.

And what do you get for your hard-earned cash? You get a mix of Annie Moscow-penned songs and imaginative lyrics from her two CDs and live shows. You get insightful story-telling and get to meet Annie’s life experiences and perspectives in the form of friends who would make quirky characters for an outlandish, surrealistic novel. Except that these folks are so weird they must be real.

Characters like Drew, the high schoolmate who looked so hot but turned out to be gay. Like her woman friend who calls herself the “Orange Juice Fairy.” Or listen to the whimsical lyrics welcoming you to suburbia, “Where the beds are warm, and the floors are clean and the dogs are fat and the lawns are green.”

Philosophical Musings is a delightful, thought-provoking mix of storytelling, songs and audience interaction from an ex-hippie.

Go visit Annie’s world. where mid-life crises bites down hard, lost opportunities compete with dreams gone wrong, and we ponder the personal prices we pay for four walls – and are able to laugh all the while.
